Introducing: Panerai Submersible Verde Militare PAM01055
In an industry where the term “Special Editions” has been over-used in product releases, Panerai have been caught red-handed in this guilty trend. Where most special editions are now considered and valued as just another general production, this model, however, has seemed to hold true to the term. This is the Panerai Submersible Verde Militare PAM01055.

Released as an e-commerce exclusive in 2019 with a total of 500 pieces being made, it is a Special Editions that has appreciated in value and continues to do so today. On the wrist, the sleek and tapered design of the Submersible case makes this watch seem a perfect fit. Accompanied by the accordion green rubber strap, in my opinion the overall look is classy and stylish, without forgetting its military diver roots.
This release showed that Panerai recognizes what so many watch enthusiasts want: the unfussy, classic military diver aesthetic but in a wearable size and handsome design. It’s a simple recipe and the 42mm Submersible (first introduced in 2016) is the brand listening to a core part of its audience. The Submersible is a pretty niche product, by design, and a lot of Paneristi will never be pleased with the downsized Submersible. That said, there are probably as many, or more, Panerai enthusiasts who are thrilled to have more Submersibles that they can actually wear.
In a stylish stainless steel case, I’m pleased the bezel is also steel rather than ceramic. In its slim submersible case, it’s a really trendy yet understated look that fits well on the average wrist.
Water resistant to 300M, the watch has an enclosed steel caseback and that signature Panerai crown guard. The Submersible Verde Militare is outfitted with the automatic in-house P.900 movement, which Panerai is using for many models now in sizes similar. It’s based on the ValFleurier ebauche movement, a company also owned by Richemont.
The P.900 is quite slim at 4.2mm-thick and has a three-day power reserve.
The dial is very legible with contrasting white markers to the deep green of the dial. It features a date and sub-seconds dial, giving it a balanced look and not making it too cluttered. At night or in the dark, the luminescence comes out to play with duel colours of blue and green.
Currently, there’s no other Panerai quite like this in the market. It’s the only green steel submersible, and while this colour is trending in the watch market, it’s caught the attention of many watch enthusiasts that may not be that accustomed with Panerai. Think of this as the cheaper alternative to the green Patek aquanaut, but just as stylish and fun.
